Sitting at a track meet this weekend, waiting to see my son run his first event of the day, 100m in a 4x100 relay, I hear the announcer over the PA begging kids to check in to their race. "I'm still waiting for XXX HS and XXX HS to check in, come on kids we need you in the staging area, hurry up please..."  I almost lost it.. but instead I laughed and asked the parents next to me... when did the begging start? We all giggled.  It really took all of my will to stop myself from going up to that person and tell her to knock it off.

Why can't you...

Do you cringe when your teenager starts a sentence with "Why can't you...",  I do. Usually. it means the start of a fight. Parenting can be such a rollercoaster of emotions.  How can this man standing in front of me be the same boy I rocked to sleep when he had a bad dream?  Opps I slipped into reminiscing again...  back to teenagers.  Last week, in a last minute request, Hey, I need an extra $20 bucks, I need to take her out on a date and I don't have any money...  Wait... what?  you're 15.

Mom, make me some food...

It started very early with my boys... I wanted them to enjoy good food. But most of all I wanted them to feed themselves so I taught them to cook.  Of course you have to lead by example by eating well and planning meals. I wish I had a site like HealthyKids 15 years ago. Check out their videos and meal planning, it's fun and yummy.

When they were little I them figured out. .. My oldest son picked at his food and couldn't slow down long enough to take the time to eat but my youngest would sit in his highchair and play with food and have a great time eating.  As they grew I would channeled their energy into little jobs in the kitchen.

Hardest part of motherhood

I saw a meme today that said "No one tells you that the hardest part of motherhood is when your kids grow up" . I got choked up, the little boy looked just like my son. My oldest moved away at 19 under so much turmoil that it felt like I was breaking up with my son, The only interaction I have is getting him to take over his bills, mobile phone, car insurance.. etc. I still have hope we will have happy reunion someday but from the last interaction... I won't hold my breath... He is fueled by so much hate it's sad.  The best part is I still have his brother who is growing up way too fast, I thought I would have a little more time since they
